Beginning
a New Life Doesn't Mean Changing Your Name
"We didn't have to break
the ice, but if the weather didn't warm up, I thought we'd
have to,"said Pastor Jerry. "It was near 40 degrees
just three hours before we got in the water." With that
background, Eric and Holly Statt were baptized on June 8!
Baptism by immersion is a
public ceremony that symbolizes a person's death and burial
to one way of living and their resurrection to a new life.
It's a celebration of a personal decision. Baptism isn't about
joining a church it's about totally committing your life to
Jesus Christ!
Eric and his wife Holly
were not following Christ until last year when they made a
decision to commit their life to Christ and asked Him to recreate
them in His image and likeness.
Eric is the director of
health and fitness at a large fitness center in White Bear
Lake. Holly recently completed her bachelor's degree at the
University of Minnesota and passed her state board examination
for dental hygiene. After their baptism, there were plenty
of warm hugs and a picnic, too.
